Pays de Loire: Castles of Chambord and Chaumont

We visited the castle of Blois in the morning. Then we drove to the castle of Chambord. The caslte was impressive at the first sight. We visited the interior (entrance 9.5 € per person). There were many rooms with old furniture. There was a central spiral double escalator (designed by Da Vinchi), where each scale was indipendent of the other. Walking along the balconies at the top of the castle was fascinating. We needed 3 hours to visit the whole castle.

We continued to the castle of Chaumont (again the entrance was 9.5 € per person). This castle was smaller but more romantic. It has been build on a small hill with nice view of Loire.

We spended more than expected time in the castles, so we decided to stay in the city of Amoise for the night and continue the castle seeing the next day. We could not find a free room, but at the end we stayed in the best ever room in a house. The room costed 95 € for the night with breakfast, but it was well worth. We had dinner in a nice restaurant below the castle. It was very hot, the clothes were sticked with the body. It might be the worst period to visit this area.
