The first interesting thing about Lima was the fog. The fog, coming from the Pacific ocean, covered most of the high buildings and highways. This is caused to Humboldt current. It is a cold ocean current coming from Antartica and travels along the Andes. The air is captured and cannot be transformed into rain. That s why in Lima never rains.

We visited the shopping center Larcomar which is located on a nice balcony over the coast Costa Verde with nice view of the Pacific ocean. The feeling of listening to the waves coming from the ocean under the fog was unique.

After walking along the coast we went to the Kenedy park. Multicolored funny buses were everywhere. Then we took a taxi until Lima central square Plaza de Armas. There were many people around, flowers, trees and a band playing music inside the yard of the President House. We walked around along pedestrian commercial streets until the Plaza de San Martin.

We returned to the hotel by a taxi. Then the hotel car took us to the airport in order to catch the flight to Arequipa, the second larger city of Peru. We arrived at Arequipa at 17:50 and went to «Villa del Carmen» with a taxi. Our first task was to arrange an excursion to Colca Canyon for the next day. We planned to do it for one day but unfortunately the one-day trips started at 03:00 in the morning. So we decided to take the 2-day trip with one night stay in Chivay and start at 08:00 in the morning. Then we had dinner in a very nice restaurant «Tratoria del Monastery» inside the «Santa Catalina» monastery.
