Our travel in the area of Western Macedonia began at Konitsa. The first 3 days we wandered in the area of Smolikas.

We drove to Palioseli. There was a sign to Smolika refuge, just before the village on the left side of the road. We left the car outside the refuge and start the trekking to the dragon lake and peak of Smolika mountain. The footpath was steep ... »

We walked the footpath from Konitsa bridge to the Monastery of Stomiou. The footpath was along the river of Aoos. The monastery was not something interesting, but the view down to the canyon of Aoos was impressive.
